I can scarcely remember a time in my life when I didn't have a camera close at hand. At a very young age I was given my first camera as a gift. The first subjects in my view finder were friends, family and often some of the local wildlife. Ever since my first camera I have had a passion for photography.
When the opportunity came I took every photography class and workshop offered. I still remember rolling film in the dark room on metal spools before adding the carefully timed chemicals baths, and the later excitement of printing my own black and white prints on an enlarger and running them through the liquid baths in the near darkness.
To pursue my passion further I became a yearbook photographer and a newspaper photographer which allowed me to expand my abilities and get my work published for others to enjoy. I had the good fortune to be taught and mentored for several years by the gifted photographer Ariel Benson. He was of great help in teaching me the core fundamentals as well as the important subtleties and nuances that make great photography.
Many advice givers counsel photographers to specialize, to find your small special niche and exploit it. I have taken a different road with great sucess! I do it all! I love the variety doing a wide range of photographic assignments gives my life. I find the diversity of the shoots invigorates me and keeps me fresh and ready for the next shoot! I find embracing a wide range of subject matter keeps me out of the ruts and burnout that most niche photographers eventually find themselves in (especially those poor souls that try to shoot weddings exclusively). Variety is indeed the spice of life
Creatively, it is the people that are often the most interesting subjects and can be the most rewarding to photograph. With this realization I have thrown my efforts and energies into creating memorable portraiture and other people centric images. It brings me great happiness to know that my wedding albums and people centered photographs will be loved and appreciated by my clients for generations. Truely, this type of photography can be chersihed by family and loved ones forever!
To foster and exercise my analytical and technical side I pursue commercial photography assignments and especially love the unique compositional and lighting challenges presented by interior design and architectural photography...My previous decade long history in the furniture sales and interior design business makes me especially quailfied for this type of photography.
To pursue my love of nature and inspired by the beauty of the Cache Valley area I create and offer scenic and nature related photography via fine art prints. I offer a special thanks to all those whom have offered so many words of encouragement and support for my local scenic photography!
I look forward to being your photographer!
